Attenuator Cables
When recording loud sound sources, sensitive microphones can put out a level that overloads a recorder's microphone pre-amp. Knowledgable tapers would then switch the mics to feed the line inputs, which can typically accept a signal 26 dB higher.
However, some devices (e.g., video camcorders and lower priced analog cassette recorders) don't have line inputs. For these devices, our attenuator cables are worthwhile accessories.
And if you want to use a bass roll-off filter with your microphones , you can't use the Line input because its impedance is too high for the filter, so you should again be using an attenuator cable with the Mic input.
And when recording from a soundboard's pro-level outputs into a recorder's line inputs, attenuator cables prevent overloading.
Keep in mind that attenuator cables can't be used between a set of microphones and a recorder if your microphones are powered from the recorder's mic input -- what's sometimes called: "Plug-In Power."

Attenuator Cables Description
The Core Sound attenuator cables are approximately 1-foot (30 cm) long. On one end is a high quality, all metal, 1/8" (3.5mm) stereo mini-jack that accepts the microphone output. On the other end is a high quality, gold plated, 1/8" (3.5mm) stereo mini-plug that plugs into the recorder.
The cable is made with the same custom-made, very flexible, rugged cable used in our Core Sound microphones.
The cable is available in three attenuation values: 11, 20 and 32 dB. (Most applications would use the 20 dB cable.) Please specify your preference when you order.

Attenuator cables are priced at $40. Please specify whether you prefer the 11, 20 or 32 dB values.
Within the continental United States, ground shipping and handling for up to four cables is $6.50, Next Day Air shipping is $24, and Second Day Air is $17; add $3 for South and West. Shipping via U.S. Postal Service to Europe, South America, Africa, and Asia is $17 and $10 to Canada -- if you feel comfortable waiving insurance, we can ship to most of the world for only $10. New Jersey residents must include 7% sales tax.
Payment
Payment is via any major credit card (Visa, Mastercard or American Express), a PayPal account, personal checks, money order (available from the Post Office or bank), traveler's checks, wired funds, cash or certified check, US funds only. Please allow some additional time for personal checks to clear the bank prior to shipment. COD shipments are available in some situations -- contact us for details. You may wire funds directly to our bank account -- please contact us for details.
PayPal handles our credit card processing. You need not have a PayPal account to pay with a credit card.
We also accept purchase orders from pre-qualified US universities, corporations, and state and federal governments.

Customs Taxes
If you are ordering from outside the United States or Canada, your government may (or may not) charge you import taxes. Those taxes are your responsibility. If you are not certain, please ask your local Customs authority for more information.

Core Sound LLC collects only State of New Jersey sales tax. We do not collect UK/Europe VAT taxes or any other taxes
Attenuator Cables Trial Offer
To give you a chance to try our cables, Core Sound provides a 30 day trial period. All cables returned within 30 days of shipment qualify for a full refund (minus shipping and handling charges) provided that they are returned in as-new condition.
Attenuator Cables Limited Warranty
Core Sound attenuator cables are sold with a 90 day limited parts and labor warranty. If they require repair during that period, ship them back to Core Sound postage paid with a description of the problem. We will repair or replace them and ship back to you at no charge. No consequential damages are covered by this warranty.
